Who we are

What we collect

• Location. Your approximate or precise location, so we can show what's happening near you. You're always in control — you can browse without sharing it.
• WhatsApp messages. When you message Sponto, we process your phone number and the content of your messages to answer you and surface events.
• Account details. If you create an account or list a venue, we keep your email and the events/venues you manage.
• Payment data. Subscriptions are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your full card details — Stripe does, under their own privacy terms.
• Usage & device data. Basic analytics (pages visited, rough region, device type) to understand what's working — only if you agree to it. If you don't, we collect none of it.

Cookies & analytics

We use a small number of cookies that Sponto needs to work: one to keep your session, one to remember your location preference, one for your time zone so we show event times correctly, and one that records your answer to the question below. Those are set without asking, because without them the site doesn't function.

Google Analytics is the only non-essential thing we load, and it is off until you say yes. Before you answer, no analytics script is requested and no analytics cookie exists — we ask on your first visit and remember whichever answer you give, so you're not asked again. Saying no costs you nothing: Sponto works the same.

If you withdraw, we switch the tracker off immediately, clear the analytics cookies it set, and it isn't loaded again on any later page.

Why we're allowed to use it

We process your data to provide the service you asked for (showing and creating events), on the basis of your consent (location, analytics) and our legitimate interest in running and improving Sponto. We keep it only as long as we need it for those purposes.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask to see, correct, export or delete your data, and you can withdraw consent at any time. You can delete your account from your settings — we soft-delete it immediately and permanently remove it after a short grace period. To exercise any right, email contact@sponto.eu. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority (gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit.be).

Sharing

We share data only with the providers that make Sponto run — for example Stripe (payments) and our messaging and hosting providers — and only what they need to do their job. Google Analytics receives nothing unless you've agreed to it. We don't sell your data to anyone.

Changes
